There are millions of blogs currently online and most of them will never get any visitors, other than the owners and their friends. There are also a large number of blogs that are generating a huge income for their owners and they aren't the high profile blogs that most people assume are the big money spinners.

To generate a lot of money from a blog, the blog itself doesn't need to be complex. It doesn't need to have extensive content. It doesn't need to have a lot of graphics. In fact it doesn't need to do anything other than supply a solution where there is a demand. To do that you need to find that demand before even starting with the creation of your blog.

You need to ensure that people will find your blog and to do that you need to be proactive at promoting your blog. Without promotion any business will fail and the same applies to businesses online. If you choose your keywords correctly and use promote your blog in the rights places then your promotional efforts need not be too difficult. By the 'right places' I mean where targeted traffic will see what you have to offer.

It's not hard to get traffic but it's a little bit more difficult to get the right traffic and if you're paying for it that traffic will also usually be more expensive. Once again this is where good keyword selection can save you a bundle of money yet still get you a lot of traffic. Simple tricks like targeting misspelled words can generate a lot of traffic for your site yet invariably you will find that there is considerably less competition for those words.

It's the little things that make the big difference when building a blog to make money. Think about what people want and then give them a solution. Find people looking for the solution and let them know that you have what they want. You don't need a lot of traffic to make a lot of money if that traffic is highly targeted and your blog is optimized to convert well. So before you start with that blog that is going to help you leave your day job, spend a little quality time planning.
